Bahraini woman dies, 3 injured in accident on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Street

A young Bahraini woman died while her eight-year-old daughter, husband and friend sustained critical injuries in a tragic accident after the car she was driving rammed into a parked bus on Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Street near Hamad Town.

The accident reportedly occurred early in the wee hours of Saturday.

Police say the speeding car smashed into the rear side of a parked bus transporting workers on the emergency lane at around 3 am.

Following the crash, the car got stuck underneath the back left bumper of the bus, crushing part of the hood and the passenger cabin.

Photos of the accident scene showed extensive damage to the front of the car, whose front section appears to have torn apart in the impact.

Police patrols responded to the crash immediately after receiving a report.

Police had not identified the exact cause for the crash, but, according to sources, the preliminary investigation points fingers at speeding and negligence as the reasons for the mishap.

An investigation is ongoing. Sources further said the family was returning after a cultural event, in which the daughter was one of the participants.

“On their way home, the family offered a lift to one of their friends. The injured were initially taken to a private hospital and later to Salmaniya Medical Complex.”
