HRH Prince Salman directs NAO to refer Works Ministry ‘non-compliance’ violations to Public Prosecution

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister has directed the National Audit Office (NAO) to take the necessary legal action over alleged violations at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
This came as HRH Prince Salman yesterday met with NAO Auditor General Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, who presented a forensic audit report on non-compliances within the ministry.
His Royal Highness ordered NAO to refer the case to the Public Prosecution in the public interest.
He urged the body to intensify forensic audit reports and internal auditing within the government to ensure the integrity of public sector agencies and to safeguard public funds.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister reviewed the forensic audit report submitted by the NAO’s Auditor General, and stressed the importance of further strengthening accountability and responsibility across government workstreams.
He stressed the importance of upholding the principles of integrity and professionalism across the public sector to preserve public funds.
His Royal Highness highlighted the NAO’s role in promoting best practices in the safeguarding of public funds.
Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness and commended efforts to support the NAO in safeguarding public funds.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Jawad Salem Al Arrayed, the Minister of Interior, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, and the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, also attended the meeting
