Bahrain Shura Council to form Gender Balance Committee

Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh issued a decision to form the Gender Balance Committee in the General Secretariat of the council headed by the Relations, Media and Research Affairs Advisor Dr. Fawzia Yousef Al-Jeeb and the membership of seven employees of the General Secretariat.
The first article stipulated that the name of the Equal Opportunities Committee should be replaced by the Gender Balance Committee in the General Secretariat of the Shura Council.
The rest of the articles included the objectives of establishing the committee and its terms of reference in order to achieve the integration of women’s needs in all areas of work in the council, and to achieve gender balance among all employees in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).
The members of the committee are Assistant Secretary-General for Resources and Information Technology Karima Mohammad Al Abbasi, Director of the Information and Communications Technology Department Abeer Abdullah Al Obaidly, Director of Relations and Media Department Yousef Yaqoub Marhoon, Director of the Procurement and Services Department Abdul Majeed Ali Bu Hussian, Legal Adviser Mayada Majeed Maarij, Director of Human Resources and Finance Mohamed Adel Jamil, and Quality Supervisor Noora Mohammad Al Najjar.
The chairperson of the committee expressed her thanks and appreciation to the chairman and the Shura Council Secretary-General Counselor Osama Ahmed Al Asfoor, for their permanent support for the principle of equal opportunities and gender balance in the General Secretariat.
