Greenlight will start glowing on Bahrain’s COVID-19 alert system, beginning this Tuesday, with the Kingdom also easing several measures, including doing away with Green shield vaccine pass, amid sharp declines in patients requiring hospitalisation or intensive care.

The National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19) said it now allows facilities to operate with 100% capacity.

Meaning, indoor facilities, including cinemas, playgrounds, entertainment centres, events, conference halls, and public attendance at sports events, can operate with 100% capacity.

Most importantly, individuals are now not required to show a green shield vaccine pass for attending events or watching mass sporting events.

“For watching such events, there is no requirement to show the green shield on the “BeAware” app,” a task force statement said.

However, wearing face masks during indoor events and adhering strictly to preventive measures under the green alert level is mandatory.

Procedures to follow for Green Level are on the healthalert.gov.bh website.

Until the 15th of this month, Bahrain will follow restrictions as per the Yellow level on the alert system modelled on the traffic light system.

Authorities switched on the Yellow light on the 19th of December 2021 as a precautionary measure in light of the rapid spread of the new Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus worldwide.

The green light comes into play when the rolling average of positive cases in intensive care units in Bahrain is 50 or less for 14 days.
