Knowledge is the pathway towards progress: Israeli PM

The Prime Minister of Isreal Naftali Bennett yesterday told Bahraini youth that Israel’s keenness on investing in education and the youth laid the foundation for its scientific and technological advancement.

Bennett urged Bahraini students to carry forth in the process of education and positive engagement with modern technology.

He also said the exchange between youth delegations from both countries would strengthen the bilateral ties.

Bennett affirmed that knowledge is the pathway toward progress, expressing happiness over meeting promising Bahraini youth further deepening the principles of peace and openness.

The Israeli premier also stressed that the meeting contributes to the idea of peace as a strategic choice for all peoples.

Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayyad, the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, the Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office and Cabinet Secretary-General, Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, the ambassador of Bahrain to Israel, Khalid Yusuf Al-Jalahma and Eitan Na’eh, Israel’s ambassador to Bahrain, and several officials were present.

The Prime Minister said that his visit to the Kingdom has enabled him to closely review its history, culture and civilization, which he said has long represented the principles of peace and coexistence.

Milestone in ties: Foreign minister

Separately, Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani said Bennett’s official visit to the Kingdom reflects the common desire of Bahrain and Israel to further develop bilateral cooperation.

“This historic first visit by an Israeli Prime Minister is a further milestone in the ties between the two countries, and will further deepen and strengthen our cooperation while advancing our shared goals of security, stability and prosperity for our peoples and the wider region,” Dr Al Zayani said in a statement.

He reaffirmed that the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation between the people of both nations in social, economic and security matters, and the need to establish a joint economic committee to enhance and expand economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Dr Al Zayani also pointed out the two countries agreed to strengthen relations between our peoples, especially through educational, cultural and academic cooperation, emphasising the importance of engaging young people in the peace-building process, for the benefit of future generations.
