The High Criminal Court has sentenced a clearance agent to five years in prison for forging two residential stickers.

The defendant is said to have aimed to serve two American men who wanted to go on a work trip to Saudi Arabia but didn’t have residential permits in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He put fake residential stickers on their passports to help them obtain the desired permits to be able to visit Saudi Arabia.

However, his request was rejected by the Saudi authorities, and he discovered that his wrongdoing came to light.

He removed the stickers.

Nevertheless, he was summoned up for interrogation before he ended up on a trial before the High Criminal Court which convicted him of forgery.

“I receive the requests from a man in Saudi Arabia, who would tell me about the names of the foreigners who want to visit Saudi Arabia and they didn’t have residential permits in the Kingdom of Bahrain. I forge the stickers for BD100 each,” the man told prosecutors.

“When this new request was rejected I realised that I got caught up. So I removed the stickers from the passports,” he added.

According to court files, the defendant’s crime was discovered after a tip-off was sent to police in Bahrain about his plans.
