HH Shaikh Khalid opens West Asian Paralympic Games

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, inaugurated the third edition of the West Asian Paralympic Games - Bahrain 2022, in a ceremony held at Arad Fort on Sunday night, in the presence of several Bahraini officials and heads of participating delegations.

HH Shaikh Khalid announced the opening of the competition, in which 11 countries are taking part featuring 700 male and female athletes.

They will be competing in seven different sports, namely athletics, wheelchair basketball, boccia, goalball, table tennis, badminton, and weightlifting.

The opening ceremony included a parade of participating national teams, namely Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Palestine and Lebanon.

In attendance was Bahrain Paralympic Committee president and supreme organising committee head Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa
