Private schools can decide on their own with regard to offline classes in consultation with the parents, the Ministry of Education said yesterday. The ministry shared the information on its Instagram page, where many parents have raised questions over the continuation of offline classes. The ministry’s move is in line with the Kingdom’s transition from Yellow Alert Level to Green Alert Level.
“It is up to the private schools to decide in consultation with the parents over conducting offline classes,” a ministry official said. The official said that parents definitely have a choice to send their children to schools or receive online education. “Schools can set their own policy regarding the return to regular attendance education system, specifying the number of school days for students whose parents support offline classes.” “Schools can apply their own internal systems to strike a balance between offline and online classes.
The schools can also conduct studies and tests, both online and offline, except internal exams, where the students have to be physically present.” Highlighting the need for all schools to strictly adhere to Covid protocols, she said a rapid antigen test should be done if any student develops symptoms at school after informing his/her parents.
“If the guardian refuses for Covid test, the student must be isolated until the guardian comes to take him/her home.” “Students must wear masks and temperature should be checked upon entering the campus every day. Spraying of disinfectants must also be done by the school authorities on a regular basis.”
