Nothing could replace the joy of in-person learning, as classrooms are also for meeting friends, sharpening talents and enhancing personal development, said Sadiq Al-Aradi, director of Al-Diaa Elementary School for Boys. Students, he said, are eager to return to their classroom, not just for learning but also for meeting their friends after a long hiatus amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thanks to the vaccination campaign and preventive measures, classrooms are now vibrant with waves of laughter, joy and enthusiasm. Schools, he said, are providing in-person education, in addition to the option of distance learning.
“This academic year, we held 40 meetings with senior school leadership, 62 meetings with various departments and 54 class visits for ensuring high-quality education.” Laila Abdel Rahim, the Director of Zainab Preparatory School for Girls, said the school provided students with all necessary facilities to return to in-person classes five days a week.
“We are also paying necessary attention to virtual education,” Rahim said, adding that work is needed to continue achieving positive results and raising students’ proficiency in all subjects, which, according to the latest statistics, is 93.9%.
The Ministry of Education had announced earlier that it would return to in-person classes starting the 20th of this month, with the option of distance learning continuing for interested parents and students.
Bahraini authorities started closing schools for in-person classes in February 2020 after confirming COVID-19 cases as a precautionary measure. The first COVID-19 positive case reported in the Kingdom was a school bus driver who landed in Bahrain from Iran via Dubai.
