The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning attaches great importance to developing markets in various regions of Bahrain, especially Jidhafs, said Essam Khalaf, the Works Minister.

Jidhafs market, the minister said, is of prime priority to the ministry for its prominence to the people of the area.

“Detailed designs of the market, having an area of 2042 square meters, are ongoing, and the ministry is currently working on finding a temporary site for the traders there,” said the minister.

“We are currently working with the authorities to relocate the traders so that the construction won’t hurt their businesses,” the minister added.

“Any development of the market will consider the interest of the traders.”

There will be meat shops, fish stalls, vegetable sections and special sections for Bahraini products.

The Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Assistant Undersecretary for Roads in Works Affairs, Kazem Abdel Latif, the Director-General of the Capital Municipality, Muhammad Saad Al Sahli, and the Director of the Department of Public Works and Municipal Councils Affairs, Mahmoud Al Shaibani, were present.

The minister also discussed with MP Masooma Abdel Rahim issues in the sixth district in the capital governorate, including the development of streets in Jidhafs and Bilad Al-Qadim.

Khalaf said the ministry is developing a plan for those areas, including opening a street from Jidhafs hospital to Tashan Street.

“The hospital in the area needs a street connecting to it that remain open for emergencies,” the minister said.
