Smile Initiative, a Bahrain Future Society for Youth programme that provides psychosocial support to children with cancer and their parents in the Kingdom of Bahrain, organised a three-day awareness platform at the City Centre complex. In collaboration with government hospitals, the initiative was held to raise awareness of childhood cancer in the Kingdom on the occasion of International Childhood Cancer Day, which falls on 15 February each year.

Dr Ahmed Al Ansari, Chief Executive Officer of the Government Hospital, extended his thanks to “Smile” for its effective efforts in raising community awareness about childhood cancer and its successful campaigns and various events targeting different segments of society.

Dr Al Ansari affirmed that the participation of government hospitals in these awareness events demonstrates the critical importance of raising health awareness, expressing his pride in the volunteer doctors on the platform and emphasising the need for all parties to work together within the framework of the community partnership to support children with cancer and improve their health.

“Smile” organises several awareness platforms in various complexes for two weeks in collaboration with government hospitals, where initiative volunteers are present to clarify the social and psychological aspects of childhood cancer, as well as several doctors nominated by government hospitals to talk about health aspects of the disease such as prevention, early detection, and treatment.
