Bahrain Crown Prince and Prime Minister meets with US Secretary of Defense

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister, yesterday met with the United States of America’s Secretary of Defense, Lloyd J. Austin III, at the Pentagon.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted the depth of Bahrain-US relations, particularly the military and defence partnership which spans 75 years. In this regard, His Royal Highness stressed the importance of further enhancing military and defence cooperation to achieve joint aspirations.
HRH Prince Salman noted the importance of joint efforts to consolidate international peace and security considering present challenges.
HRH Prince Salman affirmed Bahrain’s role and efforts, alongside its allies, to confront challenges that impede international progress and development.
For his part, the US Secretary of Defense affirmed the US’s commitment to bolstering its longstanding strategic defence partnership with Bahrain.
The US Secretary of Defense also noted Bahrain's prominent leadership role in securing maritime security and its reliability as a major strategic non-NATO ally, which was showcased by its recent support of relief efforts and evacuations from Afghanistan last year.
Issues of common interest were also discussed, as well as the importance of enhancing defence cooperation and coordination to support international efforts to strengthen security, stability, and development.
