Bahrain marks World Obesity Day 2022

The Kingdom of Bahrain today marks World Obesity Day, annually observed on the 4th of March.
The 2022 edition is being held under the global theme “Every Body Needs Everybody: Bringing together the global community, we're working towards building happier, healthier and longer lives for everybody”.
Bahrain celebrates the day in support of efforts aimed at raising awareness and highlighting its impact on the human body, causing health and serious chronic diseases.
Obesity, a chronic disease that affects more than two billion people worldwide, represents a serious risk factor for many chronic diseases, including obesity, one of the biggest health problems in the world.
According to the World Health Organising, tackling obesity requires social responsibility and radical solutions that include prevention, treatment, and attention to lifestyle.
According to the WHO standards, an adult person is classified as obese when the body mass is greater than or equal to 30.
According to the latest reports. countries around the world are witnessing a steady increase in the incidence of non-communicable chronic diseases, including obesity.
The 2018 National Health Survey showed that the obesity rate in Bahrain stands at 25.7% among residents and 42.8% among citizens, and the percentage of overweight is 39.8% among residents and 33.2% among citizens.
