All around the globe, when nights get darker and longer, we humans have always sought to brighten up our cities and towns with light art festivals. From the light festival in Macau to Pingxi Lantern Festival, Taipei, Taiwan and Amsterdam Light Festival, Netherlands, these annual colourful installations have dazzled, delighted, and filled the minds and hearts of people with an eternal glow.

Now, Bahrain is aiming to join that spectacular league with its own Ramadhan themed light festival. Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority said it plans to develop a “new and striking” light festival that will “create a buzz in Bahrain and across the region.”

The authority has launched a tender for the purpose. “We are seeking a company that will provide a creative and cohesive Ramadhan festive display throughout the country,” BTEA said.

The tender invites proposals from licenced, qualified and experienced lighting and decorating contractors to provide a “Ramadhan themed festive lighting and decorations in different areas of Bahrain”.

BTEA wants companies to use “creative ideas and concepts to ensure cohesiveness in the Ramadhan theme and design of all lights and decorations in all areas designated by BTEA.” Those interested should make bids before the 20th of this month, with a BD500 bond and BD15 tender fees.
