Dust storm boosts car wash business in Bahrain

The dust storm that hit Bahrain during the past three days has offered great business for car washing firms.

An enormous dust storm swept across Bahrain, making most of the cars and vehicles here its direct victims.

Motorists were seen queuing up at car wash stations across the Kingdom to take mud cakes off their vehicles.

Speaking to The Daily Tribune, Haider Riyadh Ahmed, Marketing and Business Development Manager at Pine Tree Car Wash, said their business has improved substantially.

“There has been a 50 per cent increase in business and many customers are preferring steam wash as it is the best for cars affected by dust storms.

“Our nanofoam washing is also popular among customers as it would bring extra shine on cars compared to normal washing,” he added.

A staff Esquire Car Wash in Riffa said the facility was earlier washing around 20 cars a day.

“After the dust storm, we are receiving close to 50 cars a day, between 8 am and 6 pm, the normal working hours.” He said the facility has enough workers to cope with a large number of customers.

According to him, it takes something between 30 and 40 minutes to perfectly wash a car.

‘The job is tough and we have to finish washing at best speeds. And most of the cars that are here now look like the ones landed straight after off-roading.”

A staff at Lazar Car Wash said the teams at the station are fully set to deal with a maximum number of cars after its business spiralled by nearly 50 per cent.

“We use foam washing method to wash cars while vacuum cleaning techniques are used to clean up the interior of cars.”

Steam car wash has gained popularity among motorists across the Kingdom. It is an eco-friendly process that uses steam to wash the interiors as well as exteriors of the vehicle.

According to experts, steam jets are safe to be used as a cleaning tool for surfaces.

This method has excellent sterilising and cleaning power; the precaution should be to the process of using it correctly. The steam wash method is considered an eco-friendly approach as it uses a minimum amount of water for the steam, prevents general wastewater runoff, and is emission-free.
