Bahrain yesterday condemned in the strongest terms a drone attack on a Saudi Aramco owned oil refinery in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, which resulted in a “small fire” that did not affect petroleum supplies.

The attack, later claimed by Houthis, Bahrain’s Foreign ministry statements said, “endangered the safety of civilians and civilian facilities.”

The statement stressed the solidarity of Bahrain with Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to preserve its security, stability and territorial integrity.

The foreign ministry reiterated firm rejection of terrorist acts and urged the international community to condemn these acts, which destabilises the security and stability of the region.

Reuters said the Iran-aligned Houthi movement targeted the refinery in Riyadh using three Samad-3 drones, its military spokesman Yahya Sarea said yesterday.

Six Samad-1 drones were also fired at Aramco facilities in the Saudi cities of Jizan and Abha. The attack occurred early morning yesterday at 4:40 am, an official spokesperson at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy said.

The attack caused a small fire that was controlled and did not result in any injuries or casualties, Saudi state news agency SPA reported early yesterday, citing an energy ministry official.

“The refinery’s operations and supplies of petroleum and its derivatives were not affected,” the statement said. “These repeated acts of sabotage and terrorism on vital installations and civilian structures ... do not just target the Kingdom but aim to undermine the security and stability of global energy supplies,” the energy ministry statement said.

Terming the attack “cowardly,” the Arab Parliament said the attack targeting vital installations in Saudi Arabia aims at destabilising the security and stability of energy supplies in the world.

The Arab Parliament also renewed its call to the international community to stand against these attacks, stressing its full support and solidarity with Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to preserve its security, stability and territorial integrity.
