Six people on trial for making fake payments through the Bahrain government portal will learn their fate this Tuesday.
The Public Prosecution has charged the suspects with fraud and forgery. If found guilty, they are looking at jail terms of up to ten years.
Court files say the suspects used eKeys to tamper with the data of the payment portal to validate fake payments. Public Prosecution opened an investigation based on a report by a governmental agency after noticing unusual transactions on the portal.
Investigators traced the transactions to six suspects who allegedly used an invalid credit card of a foreign bank to settle their bills. The suspects had also allegedly misused the eKeys of several others on the portal.
One of the suspects was also a wanted person on the run in a GCC country. He was arrested and deported to Bahrain following an arrest warrant issued.
