Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday hailed UAE’s deep-rooted bilateral ties with Bahrain in a tweet on the occasion of the visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the UAE.

“Fifty years of personal relationship.. and diplomacy.. and family,” @HHShkMohd wrote, also sharing several pictures of him with His Majesty King Hamad. “Years only increase the value of his friendship,” the tweet on the United Arab Emirates official government account reads.

The pictures show Shaikh Mohammed and HM the King going out on a ride and holding talks during the grand finale of the 15th edition of the Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Endurance Cup.

Organised by the Dubai Equestrian Club and sponsored by Emaar Properties at the Seih Al Salam grounds, the 160-kilometre-long race attracted 155 riders representing various stables in the UAE.

Discussions of HM King and Shaikh Mohammed focused on backing equestrian sports, especially endurance races to ensure the preparedness of riders for international competitions. HM King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Dubai Equestrian Club Chairman Shaikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum and other officials and sports figures were present.

Shaikh Rashid bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum and Jamal bin Theniyah, Emaar Properties Chairman, crowned the winners in the presence of Major General Dr Mohammed Isa Al Adhab, board member and director-general of Dubai Equestrian Club. Abdulla Ghanim Al Marri aboard Castlebar Corsair from F3 Stable finished first.

Argentinian Catalina Bastons onboard Chassagne De Sommant from Jumeirah Stables came in as the runner-up, and Rashid Ahmad Seghayer Alktebi riding At Dial Range Tex from M7 Endurance Stables came in third.
