Reigning Formula 1 drivers’ world champion Max Verstappen was the fastest man yesterday in the opening two practice sessions of the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix 2022, which got underway at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) kicking off the top flight’s new era.

The Red Bull Racing driver clocked the day’s best overall time of one minute 31.936 seconds during the evening session, which was held under BIC’s bright lights.

Earlier in the day yesterday, Pierre Gasly had put AlphaTauri on the top of the timesheet in the first practice, which took place under the afternoon sun.

F1’s superstar drivers now head to a third practice session today starting at 3pm, which will then be followed by the new era’s maiden qualifying at 6pm. BIC’s gates open to the public at 10am and will close at 10pm.
