The High Criminal Court sentenced a Bahraini man to 15 years in prison for planting Marijuana in his house.

The man, however, pleaded not guilty before the court, saying that he had only planted seeds of fruits and vegetables.

The suspect fell into police custody following an investigation into a tip-off received saying that a group of men are peddling drugs in the streets of Bahrain.

Police soon opened an investigation to verify the tip-off, resulting in the identification and arrest of the suspect. Officers then secured a search warrant for the suspect’s house, from where they recovered devices and tools for growing marijuana seeds.

Police also recovered large quantities of drugs from the suspect. However, the suspect claimed to prosecutors that he had made the room ready for planting fruits and vegetables. Public Prosecution charged the suspect with planting drugs and possessing Marijuana to sell.
