Bahrain to host 146th IPU Assembly in March 2023

Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Fawzia bint Abdulla Zainal, has extended profound congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, on the approval of the Governing Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) of the kingdom’s request to host the 146th Assembly in March 2023. 

Speaker Zainal expressed deep pride in the honourable national achievement that confirms the prestigious status enjoyed by the kingdom, led by HM the King, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad 

She asserted that global confidence is the fruitful outcome of Bahrain’s successful parliamentary diplomacy and its distinguished presence at regional and international parliamentary gatherings. 

She indicated that the 146th Assembly of IPU and related meetings will be a historic event, as it will bring together the heads and representatives of parliaments from all over the world, which, she said, will add to the achievements of the legislative branch in the kingdom during HM King Hamad’s prosperous era.

It is to be noted that IPU President, Duarte Pacheco, today announced, during the closing ceremony of the 144th IPU Assembly, that the kingdom will host IPU Assembly in March 2023, expressing thanks and appreciation to Speaker Zainal for her constant efforts to ensure that Bahrain hosts the global parliamentary gathering.
