Bahraini intellectual Dr Nooh Khalifa said that the energy of the future in President Joe Biden’s victories and the welcome of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa – King of Bahrain – and His Majesty’s participation in America’s rejoicing in the new phase of its history dominated the image of America in the newspapers of Bahrain.

He revealed that press material highlighting President Joe Biden’s victory in Bahraini papers dominated by 46.2% in comparison with election coverage which amounted to 33.8% while issues of power transfer and acts of violence were covered at low rates.

“Bahrain’s newspapers focused on employing strategic frameworks in portraying US President Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential elections to highlight the interaction of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with President Joe Biden’s victory and His Majesty’s determination to continue developing strategic and historical relations,” explained Dr Khalifa.

“The prominence of the King of Bahrain’s will to continue building on the alliance and partnership initiatives that have been achieved with America highlight His Majesty’s tendency to cooperate with America – which is witnessing more openness to Europe during the reign of President Joe Biden towards more impact in the future of the 21st century.”

“Newspapers employed sub-headings in dealing with the contents of President Joe Biden’s victory to confirm the will of the King of Bahrain to develop strategic relations through His Majesty congratulating President Joe Biden,” stated Dr Khalifa.

Dr Khalifa also noted the historical alliance between both countries distinguished by a growing pace of progress in spite of rapid changes in the region. Dr Khalifa added that Bahrain’s newspapers focused on the energy of the future that America is experiencing under President Joe Biden on their front pages, and he noted Bahrain’s opportunities as a progressive country active in building strategic and democratic development alliances.

He noted the prominence of the momentum of President Joe Biden’s victory and the appointment of the first female vice president in America and the participation of the King of Bahrain with world leaders in congratulating the president on his victory on the front pages of Bahrain’s newspapers.

He explained that 26.2% of press content that topped the front page was focused on Biden wins the election. “Bahrain’s newspapers highlighted the Kingdom’s enthusiasm-filled relationship with America for cooperation in the democratic and strategic fields as 66.2% of the press material published in the upper half of pages dealt with issues of the US presidential elections,” revealed Dr Khalifa.

Dr Khalifa clarified that this was clear through the Bahraini newspapers’ focus on highlighting the momentum of President Joe Biden’s victory, the momentum of his entry into US presidential history and the momentum of the victory of the first African-American woman as Vice President, as well as the King of Bahrain’s congratulations and His Majesty’s determination to continue strengthening historical and strategic relations.

Dr Khalifa added that the history of enthusiasm for the mutual strategic and democratic progress between the two countries distinguished Bahrain as the most prominent centre for the development of America’s relationship with the Gulf in light of its geographical location, which is considered a historical gateway to America’s cooperation economically and military in the region and Bahrain’s political vitality.

He revealed that 84.6% of press material used pictures of President Joe Biden’s victory to deeper the feeling of Bahrain’s strong welcome to the Biden reign and the victories of minorities and women, indicating that it highlighted Bahrain’s participation with America’s rejoice and welcome of their new phase of history led by President Joe Biden.

“Bahrain’s newspapers used red titles to highlight the momentum of Bahrain’s congratulations to President Joe Biden and the King of Bahrain’s aspiration to strengthen historical strategic relations, highlighting the continuity of Bahrain’s vitality and its eagerness for the future and new development opportunities in its relationship with America,” added Dr Khalifa.

It is worth noting the Dr Nooh Khalifa, an influential Bahraini intellectual, is running a media campaign aimed at publishing the results of his study ‘Bahrain and America: Developments of the Alliance in Security and Peace Issues between the Reigns of Joe Biden and Ronald Reagan’ which is expected to continue until late April through the Daily Tribune.
