Top Bahraini businessman passes away

One of Bahrain’s earlier merchants, Ibrahim Sheikh Ishaq, died at the age of 87 after struggling with illness related to aging.

He is considered one of the prominent businessmen during the economic boom of the seventies. Co-founder of Bahrain Stock Exchange, Bahrain International travel, Bahrain Airport Services Company and Golden Tulip Hotel, he was also the founder and chairman of the Board of Directors at Ishaq Investment Company.

He was also one of the founders of Gulf Investment and Trade Company apart from holding the position of Managing Director at Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait.

His father, late Sheikh Ishaq bin Abdul Rahman, was one of the founders of the Middle East Store Company, in 1951 with his sons and co-founders, Mohammed bin Ishaq, Ibrahim bin Ishaq and Abdul Latif bin Ishaq.
