HM King holds Ramadan banquet, congratulates people of Bahrain

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday hosted a Ramadan Iftar banquet at Al Safriya Palace in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

During the banquet, senior members of the Royal Family congratulated HM the King on the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadan. His Majesty thanked them for their noble feelings and sincere wishes and extended congratulations to the loyal people of Bahrain and expatriate communities on the advent of Ramadan.

HM King wished the Arab and Islamic nations many happy returns and further progress and prosperity. HM King also exchanged Ramadan good wishes with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, King Abdulla II ibn Al-Hussain of Jordan, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman, King Mohammed VI of Morocco, and President Barham Salih of Iraq in telephonic conversations yesterday.

Separately, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority announced the launch of a Ramadan campaign that includes Bahrain and the GCC countries. Dr Nasser Qaedi, the BTEA CEO, said, “We want this year’s Ramadan to be special, with life returning to normal after the National Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus announced that wearing masks are no longer mandatory in Bahrain.”

This campaign also includes celebrating Ramadan with lighting decorations all over Bahrain. “Al Sariya TV show” will showcase the rich history of Bahrain through games and prizes in collaboration with Souq Albaraha and Faalyat.

The authority will also organise Gergaoen for children in Souq Al Manama with characters, henna, traditional food, giveaways, and storytelling sessions while continuing the existing activities such as the “Manama Gold” festival, among others.
