The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism said the ministry is closely monitoring central markets in Bahrain to ensure the availability of food products, also confirming that more ships are arriving in the kingdom in the next few days with food products.

The ministry said it is working to ensure that the markets have multiple options for food products such as fruits and vegetables at usual prices. “We are ensuring that local markets have sufficient stock to meet the demands, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan and other occasions,” the ministry said.

The comments came in response to a report circulating online about the high price of tomato products. The ministry said the high prices are closely related to the pricing of the products in the country of origin.

“Fluctuations in weather conditions, lack of production and exports are the contributing factors powering up the prices,” the ministry said. However, the ministry reassured all that more shipments are coming to Bahrain with abundant quantities of tomato products in the next few days. “This will bring down the prices,” the ministry confirmed.

“Buy products according to actual needs and don’t rush through purchases just for storing.” “Prices will be back to normal soon,” the ministry confirmed.
