A foreign man was sentenced to three years in jail by the High Criminal Court of Bahrain for attacking his girlfriend. The defendant avoided harsher punishment since his initial charge was attempted murder, which was eventually reduced to physical assault.
He was apprehended when Al Nabih Saleh Police Station received a complaint that a woman arrived at the hospital in critical condition. She was his girlfriend, whom he met at a nightclub.
They spent the night together, and the next day she decided to leave, but he refused. He locked her up in the room, but she managed to escape through the toilet’s window.
She was stuck there, and the defendant forced her out, causing her to fall from the third floor to the ground. However, the High Criminal Court revised the charge, finding that the defendant attempted to assist the woman and summoned an ambulance to her aid.
He had no intention of murdering her, according to the Court’s finding. Both the man and woman are not citizen.
