Booster doses “every nine months” are now legal for those aged 18 years and above in Bahrain. This is according to the latest decision of the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The only requirement is that those taking the booster should maintain a nine-month gap between the shots. Bahrain’s decision comes as experts all over the globe are pointing out that booster shots, just like the annual influenza vaccines, are something the world needs to accept.

Yesterday’s decision follows an approval of the Coordinating Committee after reviewing the latest COVID-19 epidemiological data. The new decision is effective starting Thursday, the 7th of April 2022.

Taskforce members said those wishing to take the jabs periodically could either opt for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine or the same vaccine used as the last booster dose. The taskforce also confirmed that the Green logo on the “BeAware” won’t turn yellow if someone fails to take the second or subsequent booster doses.

The National Taskforce members affirmed that national vaccination campaign’s importance to protecting public health. The new decision falls in line with steps taken to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
