The High Criminal Court jailed an Asian man, aged 37, to three years in jail for selling drugs in Bahrain.
The Court also slapped him with a BD1000 fine and ordered his deportation after his jail terms ended.
Court files say the suspect was working for an unnamed person to sell drugs in Bahrain. The suspect received BD200 monthly in return for his services.
Police opened an investigation into his activities based on a tip-off received. The information pointed fingers at an Asian man living abroad who was running a drug racket in Bahrain with the defendant.
Police then went on with a sting operation to catch the suspect red-handed. An undercover agent approached the suspect and offered to buy 5 grams of Shabu worth BD150 from him.
As soon as the suspect handed over the drugs, anti-drug squad members, who were closely watching the suspect, pounced on him and took him into custody. Police also retrieved from him BD550, which the suspect confessed was proceeds from the sale of the drugs.
