The Capital Municipality has called on all to reduce the generation of household trash, revealing that it removed 16,838 tonnes of household waste from the capital last Ramadan. “This is huge,” municipal officials said, highlighting the need to bring down this number this Ramadan.
“Set a specific time daily to dispose of household waste by putting them in airtight plastic bags. “Throw them only in designated containers to ensure that it is not littering public streets and squares. “This would also prevent unwanted odours from spreading in the residential neighbourhoods.”
Garbage, Municipal officials said, is removed between 7 pm and 3 am in the capital. Highlighting the importance of reducing waste, especially household waste, which constitutes 92% of the total waste removed, the officials said they are working to spread awareness among citizens and residents about maintaining public hygiene. The Capital Municipality also called on the public to report any complaint on 17729151 through text messages and the hotline 80001111 or social media accounts or “Tawasul”.
