Aksar attends ANOC General Assembly
Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) General Secretary Abdulrahman Askar recently attended the 20th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Washington.
Askar was among more than 1,000 delegates from 205 nations as well as IOC President Thomas Bach and ANOC President Shaikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, present at the meeting.
The General Assembly approved a number of issues, such as having its next meeting in Qatar rather than Rio as initially planned since Brazil is too busy getting ready for the 2016 Games. The assembly also named San Diego, US to host the first AANOC World
Beach Games scheduled to be held in during the period from September 29 to October 10 in 2017 with the participation of almost 6,000 male and female athletes competing in more than 20 sports.
Askar said he was pleased with these crucial decisions and commended the significant role of the ANOC, headed by Shaikh Ahmed, in developing the Olympic movement side by side with the International Olympic Committee.
