Ministry backs proposal to utilise solar energy in Bahrain farms

Bahrain Agricultural Cooperative Society’s proposal to employ solar energy in agricultural production received a big applause from the Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Ibrahim Hassan Al-Hawaj. Al-Hawaj welcomed the move during a meeting with the Society’s delegation headed by its president, Muhammad Mohsen Ali, at his office in Budaiya.
Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture Affairs, Dr Abdulaziz Muhammad Abdulkarim, and Director of the Plant Wealth Department, Hussain Jawad Al-Laith, were present. Welcoming the proposal, Al-Hawaj said solar energy in agricultural production would bring down the electricity bills drastically. Discussions also focused on supporting farmers and promoting workers in this sector to achieve sustainable food security.
