Prices of vegetables and fruits have been returned to their 'normal' level in Bahrain. and are stable now, said a top Bahrain Chamber official. Khalid Ali Al-Amin, the Chairman of the Food Wealth Committee at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said this while pointing out that prices are poised to come down further in the coming period.
The Secretary praised the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to continue tightening control over commodity prices to meet the market demand. "Bahrain imported foodstuffs from other sources to cover the market demand," said Al Amin.
Explaining the recent hike in prices, Al Amin said this was mainly due to the suspension of exports by some of the countries due to multiple factors, including unstable conditions and developments that are negatively impacting the global food market.
