Verdict in murder case on Dec.1

The fate of a Nepalese man, accused of murdering his roommate, will be known on December 1. The defendant is implicated in the killing of Dipendra Basnet, father of two children, at his East Riffa accommodation on May 17.

The victim is believed to have died from a fatal knife attack on his neck. The accused also reportedly chopped off the victim’s genitals.

The defendant allegedly posted a video footage of Basnet’s body on Facebook, along with a confession in a broken English after killing him.

“I am not a normol men howeever I tried to live my live but like this men not give me change to do strogle my life so I kill him plz help me all people for I getting juctice plz plz......,” says the message posted on Facebook in the name of Reemen Tpm.

Both men were working for a private security company and lived in the shared accommodation where Basnet was killed.

The accused claimed before the Public Prosecution that he killed Basnet as he was subjected to a sexual assault by the deceased. But the forensic doctor’s report rejected the claim, saying that Basnet had never sexually abused his alleged killer.

The witnesses also told the court that both were enjoying a ‘normal’ relationship before the incident and even Basnet ‘used’ to ‘tease’ his alleged killer.
