The case of an Asian man who attempted to conceal 96 heroin capsules inside his luggage at Bahrain International Airport by stuffing the drugs inside date balls is being heard by the High Criminal Court. The Court agreed to reschedule the matter for review and response by the defence on April 17, 2022.

The accused is charged with possessing the narcotic drug with the purpose to sell and consume it. When the accused arrived at Bahrain International Airport, he was transferred to the red lane. This was after he showed signs of anxiety during the baggage inspection when the x-ray machine discovered the presence of condensate inside the pelleted materials. The bag was examined, and 96 capsules weighing around 794 grams containing the suspected heroin were discovered, artfully encased within date balls, nuts, and cosmetics.

The accused denied knowing about the drugs and claimed that they were hidden in his baggage by a friend in his native country without his consent or knowledge. Security investigations, however, revealed that the accused was aware of the existence of narcotic drugs in his luggage and had carried them with the intention of distributing them in Bahrain to make profit.
