Bahraini traditions and cultural elements were on full display at Gergaoon organised by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority at Bab Al Bahrain.
The event, which ended on Friday, was part of many programmes being organised by the authority coinciding with the Holy Month of Ramadan.
Intricate Bahraini henna designs hogged the limelight as henna artists used henna cones to put varied artworks on children’s hands.
Girls in traditional Bahraini robes captured the hearts of visitors at Gergaoon while the traditional band created a celebratory mood in the air.
The other highlights of the event were traditional live cooking, pop up bazaar and kids’ storytelling.
Tens flocked to Bab Al Bahrain to catch the glimpse of Bahraini traditions.
Speaking to The Daily Tribune, Bahrain resident Swapna, a visitor, said it was an overwhelming experience to have a glance at the rich traditions of the country.
“As we move more towards urban spaces, traditional treasures are left behind. I appreciate BTEA for organizing such events, where traditions and traditional elements are highlighted with great significance.”
The authority is currently organising the “Manama Gold” festival in Manama Souq. The first-of-its-kind event is witnessing the participation of many shops selling gold, pearls and precious stones with active emphasis on Bahraini designs.
It is being organised in cooperation with the Manama Digital Museum "The Manama Story”. According to the authority, the event is a civil initiative concerned with documenting social, urban and commercial life in Manama and restoring its leading roles.
