The Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BPC), in collaboration with the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF), is preparing to host the first International Paralympic Badminton Championship from May 16 to 21.

BPC chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa said that selecting Bahrain to host such an international event is a testament to the Kingdom’s reputation for organising and hosting the world’s largest sporting gatherings, especially in paralympic sports.

Shaikh Mohammed praised the continued and unlimited support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s representative for humanitarian works and youth affairs, and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, first deputy chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, president of the General Sports Authority and chief of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Shaikh Mohammed pointed out the role of BBSF in organising the tournament as well as the efforts of BBSF president Dr. Sawsan Haji Taqawi for the management and success of the federation.

Shaikh Mohammed explained that the first International Paralympic Badminton Championship is an extension of the tireless efforts of the BPC, in cooperation with various sports federations, in hosting various tournaments that contribute to the advancement of sports, the most recent of which was the Bahrain 2021 Asian Paralympic Youth Games and the third West Asian Paralympic Games, which achieved great organisational success and strong competition among participants to reflect the great capabilities of Bahrain as hosts in various sporting events.
