The High Administrative Court ordered a car dealership to pay BD30,000 to the heirs of a man who died after his car’s safety airbags malfunctioned due to a manufacturing defect. The deceased was involved in a car accident, and the bags popped out to save him, but it turned out they were the cause of his death.

This was confirmed in the forensic expert’s report, which was shared with his heirs, who immediately filed a compensation claim. During the investigation, it was discovered that the car dealership from whom the deceased purchased the vehicle phoned the victim to bring it in for a check-up, but didn’t properly explain to him the matter which was fatal.

As a result, the High Administrative Court blamed the car dealership for failing to do more to recall the vehicle after settling for merely sending the text message, stating that this proved crucial in causing his death.
