The Bachelor of Engineering Technology programme offered by the Bahrain Polytechnic (Bahrain Polytechnic) has received the Institute of Engineering and Technology’s accreditation in Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering.
The achievement also brings the international accreditation received by the programme to four.
The accreditation, the authority said, will enable Polytechnic engineering students to graduate with international qualifications, further enhancing their career potential. The Dean of the College of Engineering at the Polytechnic, Dr Christina Gorgantopoulou, said: “Under IET, current engineering students will graduate as integrated engineers.”
In turn, the CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, Professor Kieran O’Kahon, said: “We are pleased to be the first to obtain international accreditation from IET in Bahrain and among the few institutions in the region. Our mission has always been to produce a workforce that meets the needs of the local, regional and international labour market, and this accreditation is a step forward towards achieving this mission.”
He continued, “Providing the Kingdom with the necessary human and technical expertise is essential to strengthening the engineering sector in Bahrain, in line with our mission in line with Bahrain Vision 2030.”
The Polytechnic also recently added two new specializations in the Bachelor of Engineering programme: electromechanical engineering and communications and networks.
