October hottest- ever recorded since 1902
The Meteorological Directorate at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has reported in its monthly weather summary that October 2015 was the hottest October ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902.
The mean temperature of the month was 31.7 C. This is 2.5 C above the long-term normal and goes on record as the highest mean monthly temperature for October with the old record being 30.8 C recorded in October 2012 and 2014.
The mean maximum temperature of the month was 35.4 C. This goes on record as the third highest mean maximum temperatures ever recorded in Bahrain for the month of October since 1946 and is the same mean maximum temperature as October 1965 which was exceeded by October 2004 with a record of 36.3 C and October 2006 with a record of 35.6 C.
The highest temperature recorded in the month was 41.4 C which was on October 9 due to the warm southwesterly winds which dominated during that morning. This goes on record as the second highest maximum temperature for October since 1946. This is same temperature recorded on October 3 in 1986 and exceeded by the temperature recorded on October 1 in 2001 at 42.8 C. During the month, Bahrain had 15 days with maximum temperatures exceeding 35 C.
The mean minimum temperature of the month was 28.9 C. This goes on record as the highest mean minimum temperature for October since 1946, the old record being 28.2C in October 2014.
