Municipal Councils and Capital Municipality members have hailed the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning’s efforts in sustaining the rapid urban development progress in Bahrain.

They noted the major projects that prove effective in coping with the increasing number of vehicles to achieve smooth traffic and facilitate the movement of citizens, residents and visitors.

These initiatives come in line with Bahrain’s Vision 2030 to keep pace with the economic recovery plan and pursue the goals of sustainable development. They pointed out that the ministry is implementing many initiatives that contribute to the development of the road network and the distribution of traffic through the expansion and development of existing streets as well as the establishment of alternative and new streets.

The various strategic projects contribute to reducing the journey time for road users and increasing the level of traffic safety. Capital Municipality Council member, Dr Maha Al Shehab, said that the ministry is working to construct new streets and roads to keep pace with the urban and investment development in the Kingdom.

She pointed out that the ministry’s direction in implementing road improvement projects contributes to raising the capacity of the roads and facilitating traffic movement, in addition to the major strategic projects that contribute to facilitating traffic between different regions.

The ministry is currently implementing one of the most important strategic projects in the capital, which is the Al Fateh Street development project. It includes work at the intersection of Al Fateh Street with Awal Street (the intersection of the Gulf Hotel) with the provision of a ground intersection with traffic lights, a flyover with two lanes for traffic coming from Manama in the north on Al Fateh Street.
