Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al-Saleh yesterday hailed Bahraini Press as an essential partner in achieving the plans and programmes of the Government in a statement marking the Bahrain Press Day. “The Bahraini press has flourished since the launch of HM the King’s Reform Project,” said Al Saleh, stressing that Press plays a top role in consolidating democratic principles and the fundamentals of the freedom of opinion and expression established by the National Action Charter and the Constitution.
In this regard, he thanked His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for strengthening the pivotal role of the Press in the Kingdom. Bahraini Press, Al Saleh said, is using digital means and modern methods in undertaking its media and enlightening role.
Al-Saleh extended congratulations to all journalists in the Kingdom, praising their dedication and commitment to the ethics of the journalism profession. The Shura Chairman pointed out that the ongoing press renaissance in Bahrain and openness to modern digital media reflect the determination to consolidate the status of the Press and its role in cementing national unity and highlighting the values of tolerance, pluralism and coexistence embraced by the Bahraini society.
He expressed thanks and appreciation to local newspapers and the Information Affairs Ministry for their keenness to highlight the work of the legislative branch and promote the parliamentary culture. Bahrain Press Day, he said, is an opportunity to recall the efforts of Bahraini journalists and their success in laying the foundations for journalism in Bahrain.
