Bahrain marking Press Day for the eighth year reflects the constant support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for a free media, said Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The day also reflects the “vital role of the Press as an active partner in preserving the national identity and deep-rooted culture,” the minister said, adding that media enhances Bahrain’s sustainable development and democratic achievements.
The minister extended thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their unlimited support of human rights and political and civil freedoms. “Foremost among which is the freedom of the press and media, the right to express opinion, knowledge creativity and information circulation.”
“The message of His Majesty on World Press Freedom Day embodied the Royal vision of our national media and its active role within Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in boosting the pace of post-COVID-19 recovery.”
The minister extended congratulations to the Kingdom’s press and media, praising the efforts of the Ministry of Information Affairs, the National Communication Centre, the Bahraini Journalists Association, all press and media institutions, writers and journalists.
