Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) will inaugurate tomorrow, Sunday, the first multi-storey car park on Pearl Path in Muharraq. Three other multi-storey parks on the Pearl Path are also expected to be complete during the period running from late 2022 and early 2023.
The structures were designed by architect Christian Kerez in a cooperation with Arsinals Engineering Design. The project was awarded to main contractor Abdulmohsen Al Kharafi and Sons. The Pearl Path became the second iconic vestige to enter the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites, after Bahrain Fort.
The project aims aims to provide parking for the city's residents and visitors alike to the site of Pearl Path, and enhance the infrastructure of Muharraq City. The multistorey parking is designed to serve as public spaces, with its aesthetic open spaces that add new and attractive features to the old city.
Each floor of the new parking lot has a different shape and design, as cars pass at different heights and slopes, giving each floor a special character that is easy to identify.
