A Bahraini lawmaker has called for a reconsideration of the increased administrative fees on University of Bahrain (UoB) students, particularly during the summer semester.
MP Ebrahim Al Nefaei described the increased fees as an extra burden on students and their living conditions. The MP noted that UoB, being the national university, offers a lot to Bahrain’s sons and daughters in terms of educational, professional, and intellectual opportunities.
He also emphasised that the university is urged to make things easier for students and their families so that they may continue their academic accomplishment in the proper manner, free of any new economic demands that burden them.
Mr El Nefaei pointed out that His Majesty the King’s reduction of tuition fees is the finest indication of his desire in encouraging his students to study and be creative to build the new Bahrain.
He added that restoring the situation to what it was in the past is what parents of students and students demand, and given that the university is the first destination for them, given its heritage, the strength of its curricula, and the foundations on which it has been built since its inception.
