Sustaining initiatives to ensure food security in Bahrain

The Cabinet has pushed for the continued adoption of initiatives that ensure food security in the agricultural, animal and marine fields.
It also affirmed support efforts to increase the volume of national produce to ensure food security and the sustainability of the supply chain.
This came as the weekly Cabinet meeting, chaired yesterday by the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, at Gudaibiya Palace, followed up on the implementation of the royal directives to enhance food investments and security.
The directives follow the review of a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, in which the Cabinet assigned the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism to heighten the monitoring of the prices of goods and ensuring their availability in accordance with consumer needs.
Cooperation
On the occasion of the issuance of the Royal order to adjourn the fourth session of the fifth legislative term of the Shura and Representatives Councils, the Cabinet commended the cooperation and coordination between the executive and legislative authorities, and the successes achieved in this regard for the development of the Kingdom and the realisation of the aspirations of its citizens.
The Cabinet also expressed its appreciation for the role played by the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council in supporting national efforts to benefit the Kingdom and its people.
Royal address
The Cabinet commended the address given by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day.
In the speech, His Majesty the King expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the nation’s media outlets as active partners in promoting the Kingdom’s national goals for sustainable growth and the progress of the plans and programmes adopted by the government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Appreciation
Marking International Nurses Day, the Cabinet expressed its appreciation for the role played by the Kingdom’s nursing professionals in promoting health and treatment services within Bahrain.
The Cabinet condemned the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted a water lifting station in Western Sinai in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The Cabinet further expressed its sincere condolences to the government and people of Egypt. The Cabinet affirmed Bahrain’s full support for all the measures taken by Egypt in maintaining its security, stability and the safety of its citizens and residents.
