The Bahrain Red Crescent Society (BRCS) visited the Muharraq Social Welfare Center on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr. BRCS members met with the elderly during the visit and had friendly chats with them, as well as comforting them about their physical and psychological health and offering them gifts. This visit is part of BRCS’s social responsibility and its eagerness to develop positive interactions with various groups in the community.

They were introduced by Mr Riyad Abdel Aziz Mubarak, head of the center, to the services it offers, which include housing, health, psychological, and recreational care for roughly 60 old persons of both genders. They also learned about rehabilitation programmes that aim to make use of the elderly’s life experiences by including them in community activities and integrating them into society.

Ms Muyssar Awadhalla, Head of the BRCS’s Health Awareness Committee, discussed with the centre’s head the cooperation in organising various activities for the inmates and training those responsible for their care, as part of its humanitarian initiatives to serve the community.

The visit stems from the BRCS’s desire to represent humanitarian principles of relief and voluntary work both inside and outside Bahrain, following the basic principles of the Red Crescent and Red Cross Societies, and to assist needy groups, including the elderly category that the Society seeks to honour and appreciate in all possible ways.
