In the emerging global economy, eCommerce has increasingly become a vital component of business strategy and a solid catalyst for the development of economies across the world.
According to economists, the continued expansion of eCommerce could lead to downward pressure on inflation through increased competition, cost savings, and changes in sellers’ pricing behaviour.
“From startups to small and medium-sized businesses right through to huge brands, there are a large number of companies that can benefit from their own online store, where they can sell their own products/services.
“At the same time, the speedy influx of new technology in the retail experience has driven consumers of all ages to expect a convenient and connected experience that seamlessly aligns with their everyday lives,” they say.
‘eCommerce key driver of economy’
eCommerce has, of late, emerged as the key driver of the economy especially with the advent of the concept of digital economy, Safa Sharif A Khaliq, Chief Executive Officer of Export Bahrain, told The Daily Tribune on the sidelines of the press conference.
“We have teamed up with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism to launch this great initiative, which will primarily support small and medium enterprises. This will provide a major platform of businesses to go online, especially in light of lessons learnt during the pandemic period.
“The initiative will help businesses in terms of boosting the connectivity and widening the database with regard to customers across the world apart from widening their horizons as a Bahraini brand seeking opportunities abroad.”
She said the programme is a beginning and the number of mentors would increase in the coming days. “The initiative complements Export Bahrain’s efforts; we are supporting the businesses with cost-effective tools including shipping and logistics so that the businesses can send their products or offerings across international markets at very subsidized prices.”
