Cat burning: Court jails two accused

Manama

Two accused of burning a caged cat were sentenced to two months each in prison by the Lower Criminal Court.

The duo evoked a wave of criticism when they uploaded an amateur footage of them inhumanely setting the pet on fire after pouring a petroleum substance over it.

The video was condemned on various social media platforms.

According to the Public Prosecution, the first accused confessed to committing the crime with the assistance of the second accused, who is still at large.

When asked about his motive, he claimed the cat used to eat his pigeons.

He also mentioned in his testimony that he took the cat to his friend’s (second suspect) house. The second accused provided him with a petroleum substance that he poured on the cat before burning it alive. He filmed the incident and uploaded it on the Internet.
