The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) said that guided tours are to be launched in Souq Al Manama, where residents and tourists can explore the area’s history and heritage.
The tours will provide a unique experience to learn about the importance of Souq Al Manama in the region and its multicultural communities over the years.
All tours will be given by licensed tour guides and they will start in the Bab Al Bahrain area, BTEA said.
The trips, one focused on Souq Al Manama’s attractions and another on the food diversity in the area, will begin on May 26 and will be held on Saturdays and Wednesdays each week. They can be easily booked through the authority’s website.
BTEA Chief Executive Officer Dr Nasser Qaedi said that the tours in Souq Al Manama are an offering to ensure tourists who visit Bahrain can go back home with a unique experience.
The tours are also an opportunity to re-engage locals and residents by enlightening them about the history of the market that has long symbolized coexistence in the region, he added.
The launch of the tours, in collaboration with Manama Story, demonstrates that BTEA prioritizes the development of Souq Al Manama and its tourism and commercial revitalization, Qaedi said.
“These tours are part of a busy program of events, the details of which will be announced by the Authority later, making the year 2022 exceptional for Bahrain's tourism sector,” he said.
