Bahrain, Brazil discuss cooperation in agricultural, livestock and environmental protection

Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf met with Special Secretary for Strategic Affairs of the Presidency of Brazil, Flávio Rocha and his accompanying delegation.
They discussed cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural and animal fields and ways to enhance opportunities for exchanging experiences and various agricultural and animal products.
The minister highlighted Bahrain's strategy in food security and the efforts made by the ministry in this regard, noting that its interest in this field iupon directives from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The two sides discussed climate change and the importance of preserving vegetation, protecting the terrestrial and marine environment, and preserving biodiversity worldwide.
Khalaf stressed Bahrain's initiative to reach zero neutrality in 2060, in addition to the national afforestation strategy to increase the number of trees in the Kingdom.
He explained that the ministry's efforts are focused on developing national capacities in food industries, working to raise the proportion of local production, and providing incentives and facilities to boost the expertise of professionals, especially in the areas of food security.
The minister reviewed cooperation in livestock and importing live animal products from Brazil, looking forward to increasing mutual investments in this field.
The Special Secretary for Strategic Affairs highlighted Brazil's expertise in food industry development and food security, as well as in the development of agriculture and animal production.
The two sides agreed to exchange experiences, develop joint ventures and benefit from Brazil's experience in food industry, food security, and its latest technologies in developing the sector.
